In the early days, Thanksgiving was celebrated on different dates but when Abraham Lincon became president, with the help of Sarah Josepha Hale he decided that it should be celebrated on the final Thursday of November. After that Franklin D. Roosevelt announced that it will be officially celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

Thanksgiving is also celebrated in Canada. The second Monday of October is regarded as thanksgiving day there. In Liberia, the day is celebrated on the first Thursday of November, and in Saint Lucia, the first Monday in October is celebrated as Thanksgiving Day and in Grenada, it is celebrated on October 25th every year.
What Is The Significance Of Thanksgiving Day?
It is also called American Thanksgiving. It is officially the day of thanksgiving and harvest festival celebrations evolving around. According to traditions a variety of food and dishes are offered to friends and family on this day.
Foods like turkey, potatoes, stuffing, squash, corn, green beans, cranberries, and pumpkin pie are served at the meal.
On this day it is common for Americans to share a meal with family and attend church services and watch sports events.
The day after this day is called Black Friday and it marks the start of the Christmas season.
