History Behind National Sundae Day
We all love ice-creams but do we all know that who made the dish first and where did it came from? Offcourse not! Three cities in United states claim that this dessert were made there. Till now its a debate. It is said to be belived that in early times people were not allowed to sold soda on sundays. So people started selling ice-cream as an alternative of soda.
There are different stories evolving around the history of invention of ice-cream and who invented it. In 1881, George Hallauer named person asked Edward C. Berner owner of a soda shop topped a dish of ice cream with chocolate sauce modeled after ice cream sodas. From then it was so popular that it was sold on sundays.
In 1890, a druggist named as Mr. Sonntag made a dish after his customers demanded something different. He gave his name to the dessert as “sonntag”. Sonntag means sunday in German so it was sold only on sundays.
In 1892, Chester Platt created this dessert with cherry syrup and candied cherries on sunday. He kept name as “Cherry Sunday”.
